How to get the most from Passion Arena

Welcome

First, thank you for visiting us. We believe non-cognitive skills are important to teach students today (we go into why non-cognitive skills are important here), so it’s great that you’ve managed to find us.

In order to make sure you get as much benefit as possible out of our program, we wanted to point out a couple of things before you dive in.

There is a point to all this.

We’ve had Passion Arena running in a few schools for a while now. And after talking with students about their experiences with the program, the most common student feedback we hear is that, “It’s great, but we don’t know why we’re learning this stuff!”

It seems, many teachers have simply hit the play button and hoped that students would see the relevance to all our topics in their lives. They often don’t. But, when it’s pointed out that the skills and habits we cover are designed to help them be more successful in school or in life in general, all of a sudden it makes much more sense. When we also explain that it can help them to identify what they want to do after they leave school, then they become really interested.

So, please, take 5 minutes up front and explain to your students that non-cognitive skills and habits – the exact ones we introduce them to in our episodes – are designed to help them to know themselves well enough, to be able to know what they might want to do with their life. Plus, it’ll give them the life skills they need to actually have a good shot at achieving success in whatever area of life they choose. It might also help make them happier, kinder, more confident and a better leader. Not bad for 42 videos that are all under 10 minutes in length.

Information just for teachers

Below, you’ll find a link to a dedicated resources page we’ve created just for teachers.

The big ‘Start Now’ button in the top right corner of the site, is where you can direct your students to view each episode. They’ll be able to see the full list of episodes there, along with links to watch each one, but the page will only feature the episode video and a basic description of the content it contains.

We’ve created lots of supporting materials for teachers.

Click on the links below, and you can access teacher specific episode pages, with resources to support your in-class discussions, as well and suggested exercises for each episode.

There are also additional teacher resources like posters, templates and source research papers you can access.
